At Johnson & Johnson, we believe health is everything. Our strength in healthcare innovation empowers us to build a world where complex diseases are prevented, treated, and cured, where treatments are smarter and less invasive, and solutions are personal. Through our expertise in Innovative Medicine and MedTech, we are uniquely positioned to innovate across the full spectrum of healthcare solutions today to deliver the breakthroughs of tomorrow, and profoundly impact health for humanity.
We solve some of the world’s most pressing healthcare challenges through innovations at the intersection of biology and technology. J&J MedTech is addressing the biggest unmet needs in healthcare. Our industry leading platforms are focused on delivering for patients and the clinicians who care for them. Together, we’re developing the next generation of smarter, less invasive, more personalized solutions… …to tackle the most pervasive and complex health challenges for people around the world.
Working with Johnson & Johnson isn’t just any job. Every day, we’re creating life-changing treatments for infectious diseases, improving global health equity, and developing medtech innovations and pharmaceutical products that enhance the quality of life for people worldwide. From 3D printing and robotics that are transforming surgical procedures to drones delivering vaccines to remote regions, our work is bigger than all of us.
And our workdays are as unique as we are.
Your day might start with a virtual meditation session with your work group, or a brainstorm with global teammates in a tech-enabled collaboration space. If you’re working on-campus for the day, you might grab lunch with a colleague to chat about your latest breakthrough, then find a quiet spot to do some research and respond to emails. If you’re on-site at an industry-leading manufacturing facility, lab, or innovation center, you might collect samples for testing, make adjustments to a surgical robot, or carve out some time for personalized professional development to help you reach your future career goals. You might close out your afternoon presenting your latest findings with your team or following up with a patient or consumer.
But no matter what you’re working on or how you spend your time, your work is important.
The values that guide our decision-making are spelled out in Our Credo. Put simply, Our Credo challenges us to put the needs and well-being of the people we serve first.
Robert Wood Johnson, former chairman from 1932 to 1963 and a member of the Company’s founding family, crafted Our Credo himself in 1943, just before Johnson & Johnson became a publicly traded company. This was long before anyone ever heard the term “corporate social responsibility.” Our Credo is more than just a moral compass. We believe it’s a recipe for business success. The fact that Johnson & Johnson is one of only a handful of companies that have flourished through more than a century of change is proof of that.
“We believe our first responsibility is to the patients, doctors and nurses, to mothers and fathers and all others who use our products and services. In meeting their needs everything we do must be of high quality. We must constantly strive to provide value, reduce our costs and maintain reasonable prices. Customers’ orders must be serviced promptly and accurately. Our business partners must have an opportunity to make a fair profit.
We are responsible to our employees who work with us throughout the world. We must provide an inclusive work environment where each person must be considered as an individual. We must respect their diversity and dignity and recognize their merit. They must have a sense of security, fulfillment and purpose in their jobs. Compensation must be fair and adequate and working conditions clean, orderly and safe. We must support the health and well-being of our employees and help them fulfill their family and other personal responsibilities. Employees must feel free to make suggestions and complaints. There must be equal opportunity for employment, development and advancement for those qualified. We must provide highly capable leaders and their actions must be just and ethical.
We are responsible to the communities in which we live and work and to the world community as well. We must help people be healthier by supporting better access and care in more places around the world. We must be good citizens — support good works and charities, better health and education, and bear our fair share of taxes. We must maintain in good order the property we are privileged to use, protecting the environment and natural resources.
Our final responsibility is to our stockholders. Business must make a sound profit. We must experiment with new ideas. Research must be carried on, innovative programs developed, investments made for the future and mistakes paid for. New equipment must be purchased, new facilities provided and new products launched. Reserves must be created to provide for adverse times. When we operate according to these principles, the stockholders should realize a fair return.”
Guided by Our Credo, we thrive in our welcoming, inclusive culture where everyone can actively contribute and be heard. Our job is to help you live your best life so in turn, you can bring life-changing health innovations to those who need them. Because at Johnson & Johnson, it’s not just what we do, but also how we do it, that can change everything—including you.
